Denise divides her time between Penola and Adelaide, with connections also to the art community of the Fleurieu Peninsula and a small online group in NSW. She trained as an art teacher and taught in Mt Gambier, Adelaide and Papua New Guinea. Denise has exhibited regularly in group and solo exhibitions since 2013 in the Fleurieu Peninsula, suburban Adelaide, Clare Valley, Bowral, NSW, and has work in many private collections.
Denise’s painting style changes regularly, varying from semi-realistic to abstract. Some work begins experimentally using various techniques and mediums - stencils, collage, squeegees and mixed media (charcoal, watercolour mediums, pastel, ink) - with the work developing as it ‘emerges’. Her work is a mix of subjects, mediums and styles.
‘My work changes because of what happens around me - people I paint and talk with, travel, fleeting stimuli, and viewing the work of artists both local, international and historic. It’s a great journey! The constant is my love of colour, movement and texture.’
